Travel to Larissa

Unfortunately, there is no airport in Larissa, but it is relatively easily and quickly accessible from other cities due to its placement. So you need to travel to the city by train or coach/bus from the airport you have arrived in the country.

There are 2 major airports that you can use to travel to Greece in order to visit Larissa.

Athens Airport (El. Venizelos Airport)

Distance from Larissa: 355 km

Thessaloniki Airport (Macedonia Airport)

Distance from Larissa:  150 km

You take the bus from Athens to Larissa from Liossion Station (Bus Terminal B – Google Maps) .

There is a city bus  X1 from the Airport to the KTEL Macedonia Intercity Bus station (final stop of the bus).

You can take a taxi from the Airport to the KTEL Macedonia Intercity Bus station where you will take the bus for Larissa. The cost for the taxi is fixed to 25 euro.

The cost for the bus from Thessaloniki to Larissa is 14 euro one way but if you buy your ticket both ways the cost is 21euro from Thessaloniki to Larissa and back.

If you get your e-ticket you can go directly to the bus PLATFORM 2.

There is a possibility of group transportation from Macedonia Airport (Thessaloniki) to Larissa with an 8-passenger van that costs €200 (per way) and from El. Venizelos (Athens) which costs €360 (per route). In any case, we suggest you organize it between you.

Travel within Larissa

Larissa is a city you will find easy to walk around. The suggested hotels are in the city center, so you will enjoy the most of the city sites on foot. For the Meeting Venue though you will need transportation means to commute. Larissa does not have an underground system, but the bus service is really modern and frequent.

Bus No9 (Gaiopolis) makes the journey from the city centre to the Venue (University of Thessaly, Department of Nursing). It will take you about 10-15 minutes to get to the venue from the city centre.

For a single journey the ticket costs about 1,10-1,50€ and is available on 50 different spots in the city.

You can catch a taxi on the street, or ask the reception of your hotel to call one for you. It will take you about 10 minutes to get to the venue from the city centre (Cost about 8€, depending on the point of the city that will boarded).
